Our panels, just four of us (obviously not just for the car, we use electricity for lots of things in and around the house). These days we don’t really use the diesel unless we have to (it is much bigger than the Zoe, so is better for hauling band stuff to a gig), so yes, filling up is either driving to the village petrol station or filling up on a journey.

But in terms of use of panels, looking down our street, more than half of the houses now have them and all of the new houses being built in the next town have them and a charge point. Other than next door buying a cheap starter car for their son to learn in, and my cousin in the midlands, I don’t know anyone else who has bought a fossil fuel car this year. We inherited our 3rd hand 1st generation Zoe, Mum has bought a 2nd hand more recent model (real world range about 250miles over our 85miles), my little sister has an hour each way commute in a Cupra Born, next door (an American family who have just moved here to work on the science park and access healthcare for their son) have an ID.3 and an MG and the mother in law has a leaf. But all these people have panels and in some cases like us, a battery and thermal storage (this country is cold and wet).
